En cualquier época del año apetece destapar tu bebida favorita y deleitarte en el sonido al abrirla o servirla, el olor que desprende, el tacto en tu lengua o su sabor. Así me pasa con la banda que salió de las ideas de un soñador, Richard Andermyr, que encontró cobijo en los brazos de Frontiers Records, y ha contado con uno de sus mejores tamizadores, Dennis Ward, para depurar y sacar la mejor esencia a su tercera entrega.
Este «Wings» se presentaba magníficamente con sus dos singles «Carry my wings» y «We ride», ambos temas destilan melodía y positividad a raudales, lo que ya se está convirtiendo en marca de la casa. Son dos fantásticos aperitivos para lo que nos espera después, ya que los estribillos cantables nos van a acompañar durante toda la experiencia, incluso con un guiño a los hermanos LeBlanc en «Look at the stars». Allí desde donde nos vea Brian, que sepa que le recordamos.
Los sabores más románticos y delicados se van a manifestar a través de tiempos más calmados. A veces Rian se propone que se nos ponga cara del emoji de «ojos corazón» y nos lanza temas como «Dance the night away», «The silence of our dreams», o «One in a million» que me quiere atacar desde la parte de mí que adora a Winger.
Pero si algo me gusta de esta bebida, es la energía que infunden con sus temas más cañeros. «Don’t wait for the fire» introduce riffs acompañando a estribillos corales al estilo Dokken, además de un solo de guitarra con acidez metalera. Declaraba Richard en una entrevista reciente que no escucha mucha música de la actual, y por eso me sorprende toparme con «War is over», un tema de cadencia similar a la de Eclipse. En «When you’re gone» tanto la temática como la melodía se acercan más a la melancolía.
Pero mis momentos favoritos, donde mejor saboreo las burbujas refrescantes de Rian, es cuando equilibran la parte hard y la melódica. «On the wind» que tiene arreglos y toques de guitarra y de teclado aquí y allá, suena poderosa y coreable, y me recuerda mucho a mis añorados Hardreams. Para rematar, cierran el trabajo con una bomba AOR fantástica, que puede recordar a One Desire o GOK, «Eternity» chispea y me pone una sonrisa en la cara que es muy complicado borrar.
Entre el rock y hard rock melódico, la banda nos ofrece una variedad exquisita que solamente les costó componer cuatro meses, y que, por la redondez de los temas y el sonido, mejor pareciera que les habría costado años. Y no olviden poner a Tobias Jakobsson, un guitarrista de death/back metal, en su banda de melodías para conseguir solos como descorches de champán. Con este tercer disco ya tienen una buena carta de presentación para salir de ruta acompañando a bandas como Brother Firetribe, One Desire, H.E.A.T. o Eclipse, ¡me encantaría verlo!

But my favorite moments, where I savor Rian’s refreshing bubbles the best, is when they balance the hard and the melodic part. «On the wind» which has guitar and keyboard arrangements and touches here and there, sounds powerful and singable, and reminds me a lot of my long-awaited Hardreams. To top it off, they close the work with a fantastic AOR bomb, which can be reminiscent of One Desire or GOK, «Eternity» sparkles and puts a smile on my face that is very difficult to erase.
Between rock and melodic hard rock, the band offers us an exquisite variety that only took them four months to compose, and that, due to the roundness of the songs and the sound, it seems better that it would have taken them years. And don’t forget to put Tobias Jakobsson, a death/back metal guitarist, in his melody band for solos like popping champagne. With this third album they already have a good letter of introduction to go out on the road accompanying bands like Brother Firetribe, One Desire, H.E.A.T. or Eclipse, I would love to see it!
