Hola chicos, lo primero de todo agradeceros la gran amabilidad de concedernos esta entrevista para viriAOR en especial a Andy Rock Chris Siloma y Haris Patsos, para nosotros es un placer hacerla por la debilidad que sentimos hacia la banda.
Más o menos un año habéis esperado para sacar nuevo trabajo pero antes de meternos en la actualidad, contarnos ¿qué tal ha funcionado “half past midnight” en vuestro país y en Europa? ¿Estáis satisfechos del debut?
W.R. ¡Por supuesto! « half past midnight » fue un álbum debut exitoso, que se vende en la mayoría de las empresas distribuidoras. Todavía recibimos una gran cantidad de pedidos de todo el mundo.
Para quien os esté conociendo ahora, contadnos un poco ¿Cómo nace la banda? ¿Componéis todos o es parte de alguien en concreto?
W.R. » El padre» de La banda es Andy, quien se le ocurrió el nombre y el concepto de una banda de AOR, y después de muchas dificultades se trajo a un conjunto de músicos para que sea posible seguir adelante. Andy es el letrista y compositor de base, pero Haris también está ayudando en esa sección.
En este primer disco que por cierto es uno de mis preferidos del año pasado, hay auténticas joyas melódicas ¿Qué influencias tiene Wild Rose? ¿En qué grupos os veis reflejados?
W.R. Nuestras influencias vienen directamente de los años ochenta y todos los monstruos del rock que todos amamos. Algunos de ellos como, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Danger Danger, Europe, Journey y tantos otros que podría estar diciendo los nombres bandas para siempre.
Andy Rock esta pregunta es necesaria heheh ¿cuál fue el motivo de la marcha de George Captain Bitzios? ¿Ha quedado buen feeling entre vosotros?
W.R. Fue desafortunado perder nuestro primer cantante con tanta rapidez. Tuvimos que cancelar nuestra gira por Europa y volverá a ajustar las canciones del segundo disco con el estilo de otro cantante. Hemos tenido un montón de grandes momentos con George, pero debido a la falta de comunicación, que es un capítulo importante para estar en una banda, tuvimos que separarnos. El resto de nosotros sabrá siempre apreciar lo que él ha dado a la banda y le deseamos éxito en el resto de su carrera.
Volviendo a la actualidad vais a estrenar disco en breve llamado “Dangerous” y también con nuevo vocalista como es Mark Thompson-Smith (Big Life, Praying Mantis, The Sweet) ¿Cómo fue todo ese proceso hasta dar con él?
W.R. Cuando George nos informó acerca de dejar la banda, se inició la búsqueda para encontrar sobre todo un cantante griego por que fuera lo mejor para la banda, aunque no había tantas buenas voces griegas que les guste cantar Rock Melódico en estos días, así que tratamos de encontrar alguien de Europa. Chris (el mánager dela banda), anunció que George dejaba la banda en Arfm U.K. Radio del Reino Unido y ellos lo anunciaron en sus programas. Tomó algunas de las respuestas de algunos cantantes y todo era cuestión de suerte, cuando Dawn y Paul Nicholls le dijo que tratara de comunicarse con Mark. Así lo hizo! Se le ocurrió volver a las canciones de los cantantes y finalmente elegimos la mejor voz que pensamos que se ajustaba a nuestro estilo de música! Marcos dijo que sí, después de hablar con Chris y él nos envió algunas demos de las canciones con su voz y les gustó mucho! Así pues, aquí está!
¿Qué os aporta de nuevo a la banda?
W.R. El estilo de música que tocamos es la razón por la que Mark se unió a la banda.
Si hay algo reconocible en Wild Rose es la guitarra de Andy que deja un sello propio, Quién es tú referencia musical?
W.R. Me gustaría decir que tanto ambos como (John y yo) trabajamos como un equipo en el caso de la guitarra!
Cuéntanos Andy las letras del disco ¿intentáis hablar de la vida o experiencias propias o del amor?
W.R. La mayoría de las canciones son experiencias personales, la razón por la que estoy escribiendo la música es amor!
Creo que la gente quiere escuchar música y tener buenos momentos, voy a seguir haciendo esto toda la vida!
¿Éste disco seguirá la misma línea del anterior o al tener nueva faceta vocal cambiaréis algo? ¿Qué discográfica lo editará? ¿Tenéis pensado salir de gira fuera de Grecia? ¿Os veremos en España? Aquí tenéis muchos fans, sería un gran sueño para ellos disfrutaros en vivo.
W.R. Sí, el estilo de la banda es siempre el mismo, y parece que Mark encaja en este estilo a la perfección. Hemos hecho algunos contactos con algunas discográficas ya, pero es un poco pronto para hablar de una en concreto, sin embargo, vamos a tener algunas noticias al respecto en los próximos meses, aunque… Sin duda, quiero tocar fuera de Grecia, como he mencionado antes una gira europea se han concertado y cancelado, y España es uno de nuestros destinos de tocar debemos! Ya sabemos que un grupo muy grande de nuestros fans se encuentra en España y vamos a estar allí en la primera oportunidad. Eso es una promesa!
Es muy difícil vivir de la música en estos tiempos. ¿Pensáis que es debido a internet o es que la gente hoy en día no vie el Rock como en los ochenta?
W.R. Bueno, es un poco de ambos, el rock fue golpeado por la escena underground, mientras que por otro lado la televisión promovía estilos de música que estaban de moda hoy en día. También después de la recesión, más y más gente no puede permitirse el lujo de comprar un CD, por lo que tiene que descargar de forma gratuita. Se trata de una simple combinación que hace que sea muy difícil para todos los músicos, y por lo tanto a la multitud.
Hay alguna anécdota divertida que os haya pasado en algún concierto o en la grabación del disco?
W.R. Ok, hace mucho, mucho tiempo atrás. Mientras estábamos en la prueba de sonido antes de uno de nuestros primeros conciertos, Andy no podía escuchar a los teclados .. Así que le preguntó al ingeniero de sonido para aumentar el volumen de los teclados y recibió la terrible respuesta:
«Hombre, no me gustan los teclados!» Creo que no tiene sentido hablar de lo que vino después… (risas)

Hi guys, first of all thank you for the great kindness of this interview to viriAOR, we are delighted to make it possible. About a year you expected to get new work but before we get today, tell us how has it worked? «half past midnight» in your country and Europe? Are you satisfied with the debut?
-Definitely! «Half past midnight» was a very successful debut album, sold out in most of the distributor companies. We still get a lot of orders throughout the world, but a very few from Hellas although.
- For those who do not even know you, tell us a bit, How was born the band? The lyrics are of all or part of someone in particular?
-The band’s «father» is Andy, who came up with the name and the concept of an AOR band, and after a lot of difficulties came up with a set of musicians to make it possible to go on. Andy is the basic lyrics writer and composer , but Haris is also helping in that section.
- In this first album is certainly one of my favorites of last year, there are real gems melodic what influences does Wild Rose? What do you groups you see reflected?
–Our influences are coming straight from the eighties and all the monsters of rock we all loved. Some of them just to mention, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Danger Danger, Europe, Journey and so many other we could just be saying band names forever.
- Andy Rock this question is necessary heheh what was the reason for the departure of George Bitzios? Have you been good feeling between you? Currently going back to brand new album soon called «Dangerous» and with new vocalist as Mark Thompson-Smith (Big Life, Praying Mantis, and The Sweet) how was this whole process until you finds him?
-It was unfortunate to lose our first singer so quickly. We had to cancel our european tour and re-adjust the songs of the second album to the style of another singer. We had a lot of great times with George but due to the lack of communication, which is a big chapter in being in a band, we had to part ways. The rest of us will always appreciate what he has given to the band and wish him success in the remaining of his career.
When George informed us about leaving the band, we started searching to find mostly a Greek vocalist so that it was better for the band, though there was not so many good Greek voices that like to sing Melodic Rock genre these days so we tried to find someone from Europe. Chris (the bands manager) announced that George’s leaving the band at the Arfm U.K. Radio presenters and they announced it in their shows. He took some responses from some singers and it was all about luck when Dawn and Paul Nicholls told him to try to communicate with Mark. So he did! He came up back with tracks from the singers and we finally chosen the better voice we thought is was fitting to our music style! Mark said yes after talking with Chris and he send us some demo recordings of our songs with his voice and we liked them a lot! So, here he is!
- What brings Mark back to the band?
-The music style that we play is the reason that Mark joined the band .
- If there something recognizable in Wild Rose is the guitar of Andy leaving his own footprint, who are you reference musical?
–I will say that both of us (me &John)working as a team in the case of the guitar!
- Tell us Andy the letters of album, what do you try to talk about? The life or personal experiences or love.
-Most of the songs are personal experiences ,the reason that I’m writing music is love!!
I think people want to listen to music and have good time , I will keep doing this for a lifetime!!
- This album follow the same line as the previous or with Mark have changed the way to do it? What label will edit? Do you have plans to tour outside Greece? Do you see in Spain? Here you have many fans, it would be a dream for them enjoy you in live.
-Yes, the style of the band always remains the same, and it seems like Mark fits in this style perfectly.We made some contacts with some labels already but it’s a bit soon to be talking about a label yet, we’ll have some news about it in the upcoming months though… We certainly want to play outside of Greece, as I mentioned before a european tour was scheduled and canceled, and Spain is one of our must-play destinations! We already know that a very large group of our fans is located in Spain and we’ll be there with the first opportunity. That’s a promise!
- It is very difficult to live music these days. Do you think that is due to the internet or is that people today do not like Rock like the eighties?
–Well, it’s a little bit of both, rock hits the underground scene, while the other tv promoted styles of music are in fashion nowdays. Also after the recession, more and more people cannot afford to buy a cd, so they have to download it for free. It’s a simple combination that makes it very difficult for all musicians, and thus to the crowd.
- Is there a funny story that I spent in a concert or recording the album?
-Ok, there is one a long long time ago. While we were in soundcheck before one of our first concerts, andy couldn’t listen to the keyboards.. So after he asked the sound engineer to raise the volume of the keyboards he got the earth-shattering response «Man, I don’t like keyboards!» I think it’s pointless to mention what followed…(laughs)
