NESTOR «Kids In A Ghost Town» 2021 Review – English Below

NESTOR fue fundado en 1989 por cinco amigos de la infancia en Falköping. En cuanto a tantas bandas, los sueños de ser estrellas de rock eventualmente se esfumó, pero la amistad persistió, al igual que el interés por la música.

Ahora NESTOR finalmente está de regreso, pero han traído consigo el sonido de antes. Musicalmente, manejan las influencias honestas de los 80 con sus raíces en el AOR, un brillo en los ojos y mucho corazón. El álbum «Kids In A Ghost Town» es un elenco sólido de clásicos de AOR con diez pistas fantásticas. Entre otras cosas, han colaborado en tres canciones el compositor Andreas Carlsson (Bon Jovi, Europe, Paul Stanley y otros) y el álbum también contiene una balada épica en un dúo con nada menos que el ícono de los 80, ¡Samantha Fox! El álbum está producido por el cantante Tobias Gustavsson, mezclado por Sebastian Forslund (The Night Flight Orchestra) y masterizado por Thomas «Plec» Johansson en The Panic Room.

Llamen a la policía, al cuartel de bomberos, consigan un sacerdote, llamen al doctor, al presidente, a quien sea, tal como dice la letra de “On The Run”, y le dicen que estamos frente al mejor disco que he podido disfrutar no solo este año sino de un buen tiempo a esta parte. Brillante aparición de esta banda que para nuestro disfrute, y tras de 3 adelantos que nos dejaron estupefactos, tanto por la calidad de los temas como por la historia que se desarrollaba a través de los 3 clips, esperaba con muchas ganas el disco. Un tema que no me he cansado de escuchar desde el primer día este On The Run, y no solamente en la versión del disco, sino también en la de piano, en la que Torbbe se luce en lo que tiene pinta de himno dentro del género.

“Kids In A Ghost Town” sigue la línea de su antecesor, y pasamos a “Stone Cold Eyes”, donde Nestor se pone mas melódico y Tobias Gustavsson se destaca, brilla, póngale el adjetivo que quieran, porque la voz de este muchacho es espectacular. Y otra cosa a destacar es la producción del disco, ya que han sabido mezclar el sonido característico de los 80 traídos a hoy.

“Perfect 10 (Eyes Like Demi Moore)”, no solamente va a engancharte con el estribillo, sino también con la estrofa, y vas a ponerte a bailarlo donde quiera que te encuentres! Suena a cuarto single sin duda.

“Tomorrow” es el tercer corte hasta ahora del disco, y en el que Samantha Fox (¡gran retorno!) comparte las voces en una balada épica, con un deje de tristeza, pero que tiene un puente magnífico que lleva al tema a un momento de tensión inigualable.

En “We Are Not OK” hay un fino coqueteo con el pop, cortesía de los sintetizadores y en la que Tobias vuelve a brillar con otra interpretación magnífica. Las guitarras vuelven a afilarse en “Firesign” y otra cosa para destacar es la calidad de los solos a lo largo de todo el disco, porque cada uno de ellos contiene las notas justas. No hay un despilfarro de notas, sino que, por el contrario, están elaborados para que encajen a la perfección en la canción, y eso es otro punto a favor.

¡“1989”, el tema más “viejo”, y segundo sencillo que la banda ofreció, por lo que asumo que todos lo han escuchado ya, y si no lo han hecho, dejen de leer inmediatamente y vayan a ver los 3 vídeos!

No hay puntos flojos en el disco. Y vas a disfrutar cada uno de los 41 minutos que dura, quedándote con ganas de más, porque estamos frente al disco del año (y me quedo corto).

Call the police, the fire station, get a priest, call the doctor, the president, whoever it is, just as the lyrics of “On The Run” say, and they tell him that we are in front of the best album I have been able to enjoy. not only this year but a good time to this part. Brilliant appearance of this band that for our enjoyment, and after 3 advances that left us astonished, both for the quality of the songs and for the story that was developed through the 3 clips, I was looking forward to the album. A song that I have not tired of listening to this On The Run since day one, and not only in the version of the album, but also in the piano version, in which Torbbe excels in what looks like an anthem within the genre.

«Kids In A Ghost Town» follows the line of its predecessor, and we move on to «Stone Cold Eyes», where Nestor gets more melodic and Tobias Gustavsson stands out, shines, put whatever adjective you want, because this boy’s voice is spectacular. And another thing to highlight is the production of the album, since they have known how to mix the characteristic sound of the 80s brought to today.

“Perfect 10 (Eyes Like Demi Moore)”, not only will hook you with the chorus, but also with the verse, and you will start dancing to it wherever you are! It sounds like a fourth single without a doubt.

«Tomorrow» is the third cut so far on the album, and in which Samantha Fox (great return!) Shares the vocals in an epic ballad, with a hint of sadness, but that has a magnificent bridge that takes the subject to a unmatched moment of tension.

In “We Are Not OK” there is a fine flirtation with pop, courtesy of the synthesizers and in which Tobias shines again with another magnificent performance. The guitars are sharpened again with “Firesign” and another thing to highlight is the quality of the solos throughout the entire album, because each one of them contains the right notes. There is not a waste of notes, but, on the contrary, they are elaborated so that they fit perfectly in the song, and that is another point in favor.

«1989», the «oldest» song, and second single the band offered, so I assume that everyone has heard it already, and if you haven’t, stop reading immediately and go watch the 3 videos!
