En la sumergida y perdida Tierra de Atlantis existen rascacielos y unos bólidos extraordinarios circulan por sus anegadas calles. ¡¡¡Totalmente asombroso!!!….como el plantel de músicos reunidos para elaborar otro proyecto ambicioso creado y producido por el guitarrista y bajista alemán MARKUS PFEFFER (Lazarus Dream/ Barnabas Sky/Winterland). En los teclados está Jorris Guilbaud (Devoid/Heart Line), la batería es para Markus Kullmann (Glenn Hughes/Sinner/ Voodoo Circle/Dezperadoz/Hatmann) y a las voces destaca el colosal cantante americano, de Voz Titánica y amplio currículum, MARK BOALS. Es un placer escuchar a Mark Boals en estos registros de Hard Rock Melódico. Luciéndose en temas como el primer single “Way back when”, me recuerda a aquel álbum perdido en los 90’s de los Billionaires Boys Club, a su álbum con Joshua y a decenas de proyectos interesantes como Place Vendome, Sunstorm, From the inside, Starbreaker o First Signal. Los sintetizadores vintage y modernos tienen similitudes con el material de Alessandro Del Vecchio, la añoranza arranca el motor musical inyectando dureza a las guitarras y precisión al bajo. Mark Boals está pilotando tan cómodo y sobrado que es una gozada escuchar todos sus virajes vocales entre letras, fraseos y recuerdos nostálgicos. Ese tono, rango y timbre tan reconocible, por inercia, te traslada a su “Trilogy” con Yngwie Malmsteen. Mucho bajo y teclado de ciencia ficción acompaña a “Medusa smile”, la guitarra rítmica brilla, suenan parejos a Pretty Maids y Bonfire, y la voz tiene multitud de colores oceánicos (os recomiendo escuchar su participación estelar en Renaissance Rock Orchestra). Repletas de detalles musicales, estas genuinas canciones poseen grandes habilidades interpretativas. “Living for the moment” es un Pop Deluxe dentro de un tema de AOR sofisticado, contrasta con la voz dramática, a veces amarga, a veces compleja y otras extraordinariamente majestuosa de Boals. La acústica calmada y adorable que desprende en su conjunto “Brand New Start ” es sublime y netamente positiva. Este tema me recuerda a las lentas de Slaughter y Firehouse, su voz salvadora ejerce de alma superviviente y contra el corazón roto la balada Rock siempre tiene una solución regeneradora.
Seguimos buceando en “United” entre sonidos de Rock accesible para todas las edades. Tiene el empuje y aguante necesario del Hard Aor de unos House of Lords en la intención creativa, el estribillo es amigable y unitario, engancha tu deseo musical y sacias tu hambre de Melodía. El momento más Sinfónico que Neoclásico es triturado por la voz imponente y operística que aparece en la progresiva suave, con toneladas de teclados, “Courtain falls”. Es de una confortabilidad excepcional, es frondosa, sin masturbaciones instrumentales innecesarias, y candidata a gobernar el panorama musical autocomplaciente. Me libera y desahoga esta pieza maravillosa llamada “Faith”, en onda Pink Cream 69, atravesamos entero el fondo marino de Atlantis a bordo de ese coche negro mientras suenan unas blancas melodías vocales virtuosas junto a guitarras, bajo y teclados cristalinos. Este territorio de leyenda que representa ATLANTIS DRIVE es impermeable a las modas pasajeras.
Markus Pfeffer es un gran guitarrista, pero también un gran bajista, y lo demuestra constantemente en temas como “Time”, ambientes exitosos a los Asia más duros , se compenetran con teclados de Royal Hunt, dinamismo grande de House of Lords y en ATLANTIS DRIVE no existe el tiempo, y no se usa ni reloj ni cronómetro. Balada de piano grandilocuente para “Farewell to a friend”, lección vocal romántica con ración extra de emotividad, se intercalan instrumentos dosificados y variados, acústicas folclóricas, bajo de alto nivel, teclados personificados y la percusión hace su función en el buen balance. Mark Boals se extiende y se recrea en la última y alargada inmersión musical nombrada “Heroes”. Destellos Pomp Rock de elevado sonido épico a lo Styx, Angel, Starcastle o American Tears, es Prog Metal a ráfagas, de contratiempos percusivos variados, con riffs fuertes y gruñones, otros son amistosos, teclado de Opera Rock e incluye un solo de guitarra muy melódico para un tema intenso, muy emocionante y artístico.
El viaje sonoro submarino y fascinante se esconde y acaba en la profunda, misteriosa y nostálgica Música Rock de ATLANTIS DRIVE. Mantenerlo en la superficie depende de nosotros.

It’s a pleasure to listen to Mark Boals on these Melodic Hard Rock records. Vintage and modern synthesizers have similarities with Alessandro Del Vecchio’s material, longing starts the musical engine, injecting hardness into the guitars and precision into the bass. Mark Boals is driving so comfortably and well that it is a joy to listen to all his vocal turns between lyrics, phrasings and nostalgic memories.
