Hace poco tiempo presenté la review del disco instrumental de Torben Enevoldsen, y a través también de Perris Records, el guitarrista nos entrega un nuevo disco, en un proyecto llamado Decoy, esta vez en colaboración con Peter Sundell (C.O.P., ex Grand Illusion), obviamente en las voces, Pete Steincke (Fate) al bajo y Dennis Hansen (Acacia Avenue) a la batería, dentro del género del Melodic Hard Rock. El título del álbum es “Without Warning”.
Temas como “In And Out Of Love”, con unos riffs de guitarra magníficos, que con la mezcla a la voz de Sundell, se perfila como un hit.
Por supuesto que a medida que van transcurriendo las canciones, nos siguen brindando melodías y estribillos con mucho gancho, tal como en “Fire´s Gone”. Y si a todo esto le sumamos velocidad, nos vamos a encontrar con “All Or Nothing”, donde si bien es un tema más agresivo, encontramos climas variados para que sea otra canción a destacar. Similar es “How Was I To Know”, también rápido y con la guitarra ofreciendo magia.
“Never Easy” y “Now Or Never” son muy melódicas, y Sundell hace gala de todo su talento, siendo otras de las gemas del álbum.
La sección rítmica se luce en “Midnight Show”, donde la mezcla manda bien adelante al bajo para que nos suene frente a nuestras narices y podamos sentir en el pecho como trabaja la base rítmica.
“We Live, We Learn” con un riff entrecortado nos llega como una declaración de principios, y Enevoldsen hace gala de su labor como tecladista.
Si bien pasaron 15 años desde el debut de Decoy con “Call Of THe Wild”, la espera no ha sido en vano, porque con “Without Warning” nos entregan una disco demoledor, compacto y de gran calidad.

Songs like “In And Out Of Love”, with some magnificent guitar riffs, which, mixed with Sundell’s voice, are shaping up to be a hit.
Of course, as the songs go by, they continue to provide us with hooky melodies and choruses, just like in “Fire’s Gone”. And if we add speed to all this, we are going to find “All Or Nothing”, where although it is a more aggressive song, we find varied climates to make it another song to highlight. Similar is “How Was I To Know”, also fast and with the guitar offering magic.
“Never Easy” and “Now Or Never” are very melodic, and Sundell shows off all his talent, being other gems on the album.
The rhythm section shines on “Midnight Show”, where the mix sends the bass well forward so that it sounds in front of our noses and we can feel in our chest how the rhythmic base works.
“We Live, We Learn” with a choppy riff comes to us like a declaration of principles, and Enevoldsen shows off his work as a keyboardist.
Although 15 years have passed since Decoy’s debut with “Call Of THe Wild”, the wait has not been in vain, because with “Without Warning” they give us a devastating, compact and high-quality album.
