La banda inglesa TOKYO STORM proceden del West Midland. Practican un Melodic Hard Rock clásico pero ágil, pragmático pero ambicioso, con aspiraciones más que fundadas para superar las medianías y alcanzar el reconocimiento general en las saturadas cumbres del HARD ROCK MELÓDICO. La competente y clásica voz del nuevo Frontman Darren Collings, es como una optimista apuesta combinada entre unos Bruce Dickinson y Bif Byford desplazados al lado Melódico del HeavyRock, y unos Gary Barden y Graham Bonnet imponiéndose en las líneas vocales típicamente inglesas del Hard Rock Europeo. La tripleta instrumental dentro del cuarteto se reparte entre el Axeman Joe Bartnicki, el Bassman Jason Edwards y el Stickman Bob Peach.
Su primer CD, “Optimistic state of mind” del 2.020, aparece en su website como sold out. El día 1 de Junio salió publicado este segundo álbum, “ALIEN RADIO STATION”, que comienza con el tema título y un sonido sobrio y melódico similar al álbum “Destiny” de los Saxon más sofisticados. Continúan en “Beyond the moon” con esa inspiración a lo Byford en voces adorables y cierta sensación de Rock poderoso pero pausado, dinámico por naturaleza pero sin precipitaciones, con todos los instrumentos muy marcados y espaciados, ofreciendo una sensación de calidad y control muy bien ejecutada. Pueden trasladar en “Untamed night” una vibración musical muy AOR en consonancia con grupos como Strangeways, Moritz o Atlantic. En “City of broken souls” lo crean de maravilla el Melodic Rock a medio tiempo sosegado en plan Phenomena pero con el nervio vocal de Ian Gillan o Phil Moog , con la exquisita guitarra de Rock&Blues a lo Gary Moore y los asiduos teclados de AOR convencional.
La precisión en sección rítmica, los solos de guitarra maravillosos y la línea musical a seguir es sencilla, creando un magnetismo excepcional con sus canciones. Ocurre constantemente y en “Dystopia” lo vuelven a llevar a cabo con una facilidad asombrosa. Golpean más fuerte en la rotunda “Pool of splendour” y como single ha sido un acierto total. Con un comienzo muy bien adornado abre la lenta y suculenta “Turn your head around”, se muestran tiernos en un Pop Rock de fantasía, Sinfónico y denso, como aquellas bellas canciones desérticas y sedientas de Asia. También lo bordan en el Hard Rock de “Midnight sky” con una guitarra que deseas escuchar en todo su proceder.
Las canciones parecen muy calculadas y simétricas, todo está grabado con paciencia resolutiva e interpretado de modo muy atrayente. No necesitan ser virtuosos ni espectaculares porque son Músicos con calidad, muy efectivos y muy, muy, muy….muy ingleses. “Cry on my shoulder” mantiene el estilo definido, equilibrado y casi matemático de su geométrica propuesta de Rock y Melodía Clásica. Terminan en “On the edge” desvelando los secretos del CLASSIC ROCK Territorial ligándolo con el HARD AOR Intercontinental. Un gran final maravilloso, con una de las mejores composiciones para este álbum de sonoridad entrañable y recomendable.
Un recuerdo a placer sudoroso me sobreviene escuchando a TOKYO STORM, un revival revitalizador con efectos regresivos a unos años de fantástico HARD ROCK, CLASSIC ROCK y AOR británico. Una banda nueva para añadir a la parrilla de lujosos grupos británicos como los Bad Company, Whitesnake, Saxon, Magnum, Thin Lizzy, FM, Asia, UFO, MSG, Praying Mantis, After Hours, Shy, GTS, Sergeant, Dare, Ten, Forcefield, Bite the Bullet, Atlantic, Heartland, Virginia Wolf, Airrace, Pulse, Lionheart, Lionsheart, Moritz, Stratus, Strangeways, Samson, Statetrooper, Grand Prix, Export, etc, etc, etc, etc……

The songs seem very calculated and symmetrical, everything is recorded with decisive patience and performed in a very attractive way. They do not need to be virtuoso or spectacular because they are quality Musicians, very effective and very, very, very…very English. “Cry on my shoulder” maintains the defined, balanced and almost mathematical style of its geometric Rock and Classic Melody proposal. They end in “On the edge” revealing the secrets of CLASSIC ROCK Territorial linking it with the HARD AOR Intercontinental. A wonderful finale, with one of the best compositions for this album with an endearing and recommendable sound.
A memory of sweaty pleasure comes to me listening to TOKYO STORM, a revitalizing revival with regressive effects to a few years of fantastic HARD ROCK, CLASSIC ROCK and British AOR.
