Desde el inicio de su carrera, Wig Wam sorprendió a propios y extraños con el lanzamiento de “Hard To Be A Rock N Roller”, plagado de estribillos pegadizos, y la carrera de estos noruegos comenzó su ascenso, algo que confirmarían con el sucesor “WigWamania”, del 2006, con el que se afianzaron tanto en Europa como en Japón.
Luego vinieron dos lanzamientos que, para muchos, no estuvieron a la altura de lo que venían realizando. Obviamente ello era una tarea muy difícil, porque el nivel de los dos primeros discos era soberbio.
Llegó un aparente final, pero algunos años después, volvieron al ruedo con Never Say Die, y algo que los puso en la mira de un público muchísimo mas amplio, como ser la música principal de la serie “Peacemaker”, y ello les ha dado el empujón necesario para seguir produciendo música.
Este 2023 nos traen “Out Of The Dark”, álbum que tiene una producción impecable, y que sigue la línea de los antecesores inmediatos, o sea que no vamos a encontrar esos estribillos que tanto nos han gustado en el inicio de la carrera de la banda.
Lo bueno que tiene este disco es que vas a necesitar varias escuchas para que vaya afianzándose en tus oídos.
Ya habíamos visto y escuchado los dos adelantos “Out Of The Dark” y “High N Dry”, por lo que no nos vamos a sorprender. “Uppercut Shazam” es otro “golpe” muy violento a la mandíbula, con su riff ultra pesado, que con un coro pegadizo, lo transforma en un buen tema.
Pero es con temas como “Forevermore”, una marcha exquisita que vas a escuchar una y otra vez.
Y llega “Bad Luck Chuck”, con un ritmo en la onda AC/DC, o los Jackyl más festivos, y ahí nos remontamos a los primeros años de la historia de la banda. O el riff ultra 80s, muy en la onda Lynch/De Martini de “Ghosting You”, punto altísimo del disco.
Tranquiliza todo “The Purpose”, una balada que no entiendo como no ha sido corte de difusión aún. Temazo de principio a fin.
Hay un instrumental llamado “79”, y con esto resalto el sonido de la guitarra de Teeny, quien ha logrado un tono impecable en todo el disco, y me ha gustado mucho mas que en sus trabajos anteriores.
Cierran “God By Your Side” y “Sailor And The Desert Sun”, dos temas que mantienen esa línea mas “oscura”, pero con mucho gancho.

From the beginning of their career, Wig Wam surprised everyone with the release of «Hard To Be A Rock N Roller», full of catchy choruses, and the career of these Norwegians began its rise, something that they would confirm with the successor «WigWamania”, from 2006, with which they established themselves both in Europe and in Japan.
Then came two releases that, for many, were not up to what they had been doing. Obviously this was a very difficult task, because the level of the first two albums was superb.
An apparent end came, but a few years later, they returned to the ring with Never Say Die, and something that put them in the sights of a much wider audience, such as being the main music for the series «Peacemaker», and this has given them the necessary push to continue producing music.
This 2023 brings us «Out Of The Dark», an album that has an impeccable production, and that follows the line of its immediate predecessors, that is, we are not going to find those choruses that we have liked so much at the beginning of the career of the band.
The good thing about this record is that you’re going to need several listens for it to take hold in your ears.
We had already seen and heard the two advances “Out Of The Dark” and “High N Dry”, so we are not going to be surprised. «Uppercut Shazam» is another very violent «hit» to the jaw, with its ultra-heavy riff, which with a catchy chorus, transforms it into a good song.
But it’s with songs like “Forevermore”, an exquisite march that you’re going to listen to over and over again.
And “Bad Luck Chuck” arrives, with a rhythm in the vein of AC/DC, or the most festive Jackyl, and there we go back to the first years of the band’s history. Or the ultra 80s riff, very much in the Lynch/De Martini vein of “Ghosting You”, the album’s high point.
“The Purpose” calms everything down, a ballad that I don’t understand how it hasn’t been broadcast yet. Theme from start to finish.
There is an instrumental called “79”, and with this I highlight the sound of Teeny‘s guitar, who has achieved an impeccable tone throughout the album, and I liked it much more than in his previous works.
They close «God By Your Side» and «Sailor And The Desert Sun», two songs that maintain that more «dark» line, but with a lot of hook.
