Desde el principio estaba familiarizada con su gran trabajo, tras el último disco que nos presentaron, por eso no me sorprendió la gran idea de reeditar su primer disco y dar un nuevo impulso, mejorarlo y zanjar esa deuda que ellos consideraban tener con sus seguidores. También puede ser una buena fórmula para pasar a formar parte de esas leyendas del género. Los aclamados rockeros; «Girish And The Chronicles» han anunciado el próximo lanzamiento de una nueva grabación de su álbum debut, «Back On Earth», el 27 de enero de 2023.
Lanzado originalmente en 2014, «Back On Earth» fue el primer álbum que presentó a GATC, un álbum que revolucionó gratamente la escena mundial del hard rock y que inicio su viaje de rock and roll aún en nivel extremo.
La convincente presencia de ”Nagen Mongrati» tras la batería, la rigurosa precisión de «Yogesh Pradhan» en las cuatro cuerdas complementan la técnica tan vertiginosa de su guitarra «Suraz Sun» y sobre todo, la bendecida garganta de «Girish Pradhan”, con notas imposibles y armonías vocales perfectas, los convierten en un tornado de metal que no deja supervivientes a su devastador paso.
Cuando se les preguntó por qué la banda decidió volver a grabar el álbum en lugar de simplemente remasterizarlo y reeditarlo, el líder» Girish Pradhan” dijo: «Queríamos que todo tuviera un nuevo comienzo. Aunque queríamos conservar la mayoría de las tomas vocales, hemos estado introduciendo muchos cambios musicales en estas canciones en presentaciones en vivo. Así que pensamos; ¿Por qué no hacer lo mismo en las nuevas grabaciones? Siempre sentimos que teníamos desafíos técnicos en el pasado y que no podíamos ofrecer el sonido contundente que habíamos previsto originalmente, por lo que introdujimos algunos nuevos desgloses, secuencias de acordes, solos y partes de bajo y batería en estas canciones que las hacen sentirnos más cerca de donde estamos ahora. Sin embargo, no queríamos perder el tiempo con las voces, por lo que solo volví a grabar las voces de ‘Angel’ y ‘Loaded’.
En general, todo suena bastante diferente a la versión de 2014, pero en general, se mantiene fiel al espíritu de las canciones, sin embargo, sentimos que está más cerca de la visión que teníamos en ese entonces, pero con un sonido más acorde al que actualmente ofrecemos a nuestro público.«
Tras leer sus declaraciones entiendo que debían sentir ese compromiso y que esa razón ya es lo suficientemente lícita para demostrar que su implicación en su carrera es el principal motivo para esta reedición. Si rescatamos lo que su vocalista ya mencionó en la realización de su álbum debut no queda ninguna duda y es que Girish en su día dijo:
«Cada canción tiene su propia historia. La mayoría de ellos eran sencillos, lanzados durante la era de 2009-2013 de la banda. Tuvimos que luchar mucho, pero estábamos viviendo nuestro sueño al máximo. Más que nada, éramos un grupo de cuatro chicos, sin la suerte de frente en el mundo al que queríamos pertenecer, pero solo quería subir al escenario y rockear. ‘Angel’ fue la primera canción de nuestra historia publicada. Escribí esa melodía alrededor 2008. En realidad, se suponía que iba a ser una canción en solitario en ese momento, pero por el tiempo que todos le pusimos acabó siendo el trabajo que nos reunimos oficialmente, y ese es el origen del primer sencillo de la banda.»
Aquí el inciso lo hago yo, tras oír está canción reeditada he llegado a la conclusión de que su ritmo es más oscilante y constante. Vocalmente encaja perfectamente con el sonido que pretendían alcanzar. Un solo de guitarra que simula una bala dando en la diana, bien ejecutada donde el Rock funciona en perfecta armonía… me encanta el final de la canción…. Sube el volumen y rockea hasta el final… lo vas a necesitar.
En el otro extremo musical tenemos a ‘Golden Crown’ puede sonar divertido para muchos de los nuevos oyentes, pero en realidad no es solo una canción de dos adolescentes, dos hermanos que estaban en el proceso de solicitar sus primeros pasaportes y embarcarse en el viaje más loco de su vida. El origen de la historia para esta canción, nació porque a dos de los miembros de la banda les faltaban algunos documentos y se les dijo que regresaran a «Sikkim» y volvieran a presentar la solicitud. Estaban bastante frustrados, pensando en el largo viaje y la cantidad de dificultades que les quedaban por pasar aún, además de que estaban arruinados. Momento tan duro quedaron reflejados en una canción que a priori puede parecer tan amena y divertida.
De todos modos, No tiene sentido quejarse y derramar lágrimas mientras llueve, no hay nada que perder, porque cuando no se tiene nada, no se puede perder gran cosa, con la mochila llena de música eligieron seguir su camino… La derrota no estaba entre sus planes, ¡que gran tema este! Tras conocer la historia de esta canción lo que me transmitió es su claro homenaje a los héroes del rock, una buena dosis de rock, de la vieja escuela, donde han tomado prestado el coraje y lo han mezclado con el sonido del metal que rememora finales de los ochenta. Que describe perfectamente la experiencia de la que muchas bandas no hablan y que es una realidad cruda que deja por el camino muchas ilusiones.
Supongo que será muy largo de leer si empiezo a escribir sobre todas y cada una de las canciones, así que dejaremos algunas de ellas para que las interpreten los fans. En esta reedición la idea de la contundencia con un sonido demoledor sin perder esa arrogancia y una interpretación absolutamente impecable, define a la perfección este propósito.
Si por algo son conocidos es por sus voces poderosas y altísimas. Guitarras mordaces, bajos atronadores y baterías potentes. Manteniéndose fieles al auténtico heavy metal/hard de los 80. Sonido de rock con el que crecieron y convivieron toda su vida, marcando su destino como músicos de forma tan personal. En sus 12 años de existencia, muchos fans han reconocido a » GATC » por traer la cultura clásica del hard rock de regreso a la India y son una inspiración para muchas bandas nuevas y futuras en la escena. Cómo ya conté anteriormente, sus comienzos no fueron fáciles, afortunadamente tras su lucha y su tesón a contra toda corriente siguieron sus sueños. Es por eso que me gustaría compartir con ellos un texto solo para seguir incentivando esa motivación y esa fuerza de voluntad.
Detrás de cada trabajo, se esconde una historia regada por las lágrimas y la desilusión, esa historia puede ser el motor que te ayude a resurgir de donde solo yacían cenizas. Un soplo de aire enciende la chispa y esa historia quizás sea la revelación más personal, contada nota a nota. Esa historia, puede ser la parte más personal, la desnudez más absoluta que grita al mundo, «este soy yo» dando la importancia necesaria para reclamar la atención de esa gente que estará destinada a oír lo que tienes que decir.
Sentirás miedo, pero se libre, y no una libertad a medias, sino consecuente y arriesgada, necesaria y reconfortante, donde el peso de tu piel es lo único que te impide volar. Será tu refugio, favorito donde puedes decorar el mundo a tú gusto para poder escapar y rodearte de música.
