Enuff Z Nuff es una de mis banda favoritas, por lo que escribir sobre ellos, siempre es un placer. Para los que no lo saben, su vocalista emblema Donnie Vie hace años que no està en la banda y su lugar lo ha tomado el otro líder, Chip Z Nuff, quien además de hacerse cargo del bajo, ya hace 3 discos que es el vocalista.
Por supuesto que en vivo las canciones que han interpretado son las que mejor le caben al rango vocal de Znuff, que no es muy amplio, pero se ha defendido dignamente, tal como se pueden ver los diferentes shows que hay en las redes.
Y digo la tercera placa en la que canta, ya que la primera fue la muy buena Diamond Boy, y luego, la olvidable Brainwashed Generation (que incluía un tema con D. Vie en voces).
Ahora llega HardRock Nite, que es ni más ni menos que un álbum con canciones de The Beatles, que, para los fans de la banda, saben que es la principal influencia.
Siempre es una jugada difícil un disco de covers, y ante este panorama, conocido por los intérpretes, hay que aportar algo nuevo.
Debo confesar que le dí play con mucha desconfianza, pero ese sentimiento se fue diluyendo rápidamente con el correr de los temas.
Reitero, Beatles (o las canciones de Lennon o McCartney que aparecen en el disco) son la principal influencia de los Znuff, y las armonías vocales que ellos toman como sello, también vienen de los Fab Four.
Pero en este caso le han dado un giro, tal como dice el título del álbum, mas hardrockero, y eso, le cae de manera espléndida a los temas (Magical Mystery Tour, Eleanor Rigby, Jet, por citar algunas), agregándole algunas armonizaciones que le caen muy bien a los temas.
Ejecutados a la perfección por el line up actual, que incluye a Tory Stoffregen en guitarras (el miembro más antiguo de esta formación, Tonny Fennell en guitarra también y a Dan Hill en batería, todos haciendo coros.
Algunos de estos temas ya se han incluído en los sets lists de la banda a través de los años, tal como Dear Prudence, y Revolution, que es un tanto más lenta que la versión de su disco en vivo Live.
En síntesis, una colección de Beatles y miembros de la banda, excelentemente reversionados. Enuff Znuff ha aprobado con creces con su disco de covers.
