Esta famosa frase, Lee Aaron la respeta al detalle.
No necesita copiar nada, con un sonido muy rockero, pero con agregados mas “modernos” en ciertos momentos, aunque manteniendo la línea que ella supo tener, nos entrega en unos días este buen trabajo titulado “Radio On!”.
Esta vocalista, quizás ya legendaria, canadiense, multiplatino y premiada, nos presenta en el ya mencionado álbum, una colección de 12 nuevas canciones.
A manera de anécdota, nos cuenta que tuvo una loca idea de encerrarse en una habitación con la banda por unos días, y dejar fluír y divertirse, dejando que las influencias que tuvieron de adolescentes trabajaran en esto, y agrega que hasta ellos se sorprendieron de los resultados. Lee ha mantenido la misma banda que en su disco de 2016 “Fire and Gasoline”, y por susupuesto que en “Diamond Baby Blue” de 2018, por lo que esa conexión de un fin de semana juntos dio como resultado la escritura del álbum completo.
Lee ya con mas de 40 años en el terreno de la música (si, es increíble) nos muestra como mantiene su voz inoxidable, y su imagen impecable en estos casi 50 minutos de rock ´n´ roll.
“Vampin” es la canción que da puntapié inicial, con un sonido fuerte, y guitarras que ya marcan el norte de este disco. Un sonido rudo, contundente en la viola de Kelly, que además tiene en medio del tema un solo de alto nivel; La voz de Lee, bueno, ya hablamos de esto… suena impecable, ese tono suave, pero que muestra a la vez el lado rasgado de su voz. Buen comienzo baby! “Soul Breaker”, acá estamos ante un medioritmo, que no deja de ser rockero al máximo, y que tiene un estribillo tremendo. Una canción corta, pero brutal. Esta es la viva muestra de la versatilidad en la voz de este cantante.
En “C´mon” nos demuestra porque esta cantante sigue demostrando originalidad. La canción anterior podría ser un hit clásico de sus discos de la década de los 80´s, pero acá en “C´mon” presenta su lado mas moderno, creativo, digamos, es una canción contemporánea… es fantástica, y con sólo escucharla una vez uno dice, este es el single del disco. Cuenta por supuesto con el video promocional, que plasma una Lee Aaron joven, rockera. En “Mama Don´t Remember” una bluesy road song bien definida, al mejor estilo Faster Pussycat, Bang Tango o Cinderella. Protagonista 1: la batería, un ritmo bien definido; Acompañado de una guitarra rebelde y una voz rabiosa para darle un buen clima a este tema.
El tema homónimo del disco, continua con el mismo tono de la anterior, otra canción de carretera, pero con un cierto tinte rock country. Lindo estribillo y unos coros bien pegadizos.
“Soho Crawl”, creo que es la canción mas rockera del disco, y que nos lleva a la primera mitad del disco sudando rock al máximo. Guitarra y voz compiten protagonismo aca, una contundente, la otra desgarradora. En la 7° canción del disco, el ritmo desciende abruptamente, dando paso una especie de balada con tonos sureños. Tiene una melodía brutal. “Devil´s Gold” es una tremenda canción. Me encanta el pasaje desde los 5:20 al 6:10 en la que la canción se acelera. Este tema transmite angustia y bravura a la vez.
“Russian Doll” volvemos a ese rock ´n´ roll, una pieza que se ajusta al estilo de las primeras canciones del disco, con un buen trabajo de guitarras y una batería bien marcada. “Great Big Love”, con un perfil rítmico sensual, este midtempo de tono hardrockero de comienzo de los 90´s nos va llevando ya la etapa final del disco.
“Wasted”, con un comienzo al mejor estilo balada acústica, llega esta canción. OJO!, no es solo una baladita, tiene su lado rockero bien marcado, en la parte baja de la canción brilla la voz acompañada de un coro que la suaviza mas aun, pero seguido de “my heart is not right” y su tono abatido, explota la guitarra y su furia. Entre las 3 mejores canciones del disco, sin duda. “Had Me At Hello”, una canción a mi gusto un tanto aburrida, un medioritmo en la onda de rock n blues. No tiene un estribillo definido y algun corte en su melodía se lo da las guitarras. Una canción que puede pasar “sin ton ni son”.
“Twenty One”, con la canción que se despide el disco, es una balada neta, a base de piano y una excelente interpretación de Lee. Excepto por “Wasted” el álbum es las últimas 5 canciones decae un poco, y no es que sea malo, es que la primera parte y la canción 10 del disco son estupendas.
Hablando de la producción, es muy buena, y estuvo a cargo de ella misma, y en cuanto a mezcla, fue realizada por Mike Fraser, quien trabajó con AC DC, Aerosmith y Van Halen.
El sonido es claro, limpio, contundente.

Un trabajo muy prolijo, a nivel composición, con un nivel de sonido estupendo. A los amantes de Lee Aaron no los va a defraudar, a quien le simpatiza el rock ´n´roll los atrapará, y a quien no sea seguidor este quizás les resulte un disco muy atractivo en el género.

It of course has the promotional video, which depicts a young, rocker Lee Aaron. “Mama Don´t Remember” a well defined bluesy road song, in the best style of Faster Pussycat, Bang Tango or Cinderella. The homonymous theme of the album continues with the same tone as the previous one, another road song, but with a certain country rock tinge.
